He is perhaps most famous for his first film role (aged 61) as the "Fat Man" in The Maltese Falcon. He also played Signor Ferrari, head of all that was illegal, in Casablanca. Very handsome vintage matte-finish 7.5 x 9.25 portrait of the fairly young actor (here seen at 45, sixteen years before his film debut) , signed and inscribed in fountain pen “Hal - - - - o!
