Torch singer and actress who died of cirrhosis in 1941 at age 41. Best remembered on screen as Julie in Show Boat (1936), a reprise of the role she played on Broadway and in a “part-talkie version” in 1929. Fabulous vintage sepia matte-finish 8 x 10 portrait of the entertainer, her head resting on her hand, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Maude Howard, Thanks for being a pal, Helen Morgan.” In fine condition, with two tiny areas of discoloration in the left margin, a couple of mild corner bends.
