English novelist, author of Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Women in Love, etc. ALS signed “D.H.Lawrence,” one page, 5.5 x 3.5, Los Angeles postmark letterhead, September 13, 1923. A letter to Charlotte Becker in Buffalo on the reverse of a color picture postcard of ostriches in South Pasadena. In part: “Just got back from Sta. Barbara from seeing eclipse - - very impressive. This world is still a bit unreal. Saw also those destroyers on rocks - gruesome. Hovering on one foot wondering where next. But have been so busy motoring here. My zoo interest still holds. There’s a circus in the street.“ He has also written “Greet the librarian” along the bisecting printed line. In fine condition, with the latter portion of the signature light but legible. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
