Orville “wrights” to Hap Arnold’s wife referencing Kitty Hawk and “a gift to the Army Air Forces Aid Society in memory of my brother Wilbur”

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, February 18, 1944. Polite letter to Hap Arnold’s wife, who was Vice President of the Army Air Forces Aid Society, referencing Kitty Hawk and his brother Wilbur. In full, “I thank you for the card showing the action of the Kitty Hawk Anniversary Dinner Committee in making a gift to the Army Air Forces Aid Society in memory of my brother Wilbur. The Committee's action pleased me very much. With kindest regards to yourself and General Arnold, sincerely yours, Orville Wright." Mrs. Arnold had written to Wright with acknowledgement of a recent donation to the society by the Kitty Hawk Anniversary Dinner Committee, in memory of Wilbur Wright, on the occasion of the Wright brother’s fortieth anniversary of their first flight at Kitty Hawk. Still in existence today, the Army Air Force Aid Society was founded in 1942 as a source of financial assistance for Air Force families. In fine condition, with two horizontal mailing folds.
