ALS, two pages, 8.5 x 10, July 24, 1998. Letter to an admirer detailing the accounts of both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs. In part, “The drop at Hiroshima took place at 0800 local…Col. Tibbets carried a uranium bomb. I flew on his right wing with measuring instruments…On August 9, 1945 I flew the ‘Bocks Car’ with a plutonium bomb to Nagasaki…Again, our whole thoughts were to help to end a cruel war thrust upon us by the Japs.” In fine condition, with rough bottom edges.
