Description

In May 1941, Sperrle became Germany’s air commander in the west. Unable to stop the Allied landing in Normandy in June 1944, he was dismissed from his post two months later. After the war, Sperrle was charged with war crimes and tried at Nuremburg but was acquitted of all charges. DS, in German, signed “Sperrle,” one page, 5.25 x 8, May 11, 1941. A partially printed and typed award document. In fine condition, with light toning and wrinkling and a horizontal fold. R&R COA.
