Description

An amazing, unique Newman, brimming with blunt honesty: “Every time I get up on a stage it’s like being dragged to the electric chair…I never trust a man who doesn’t drink’”

One-of-a-kind, original vintage “Reportrait,” 13.75 x 16.5, with a stippled portrait of the actor by George Haessler in the upper left. Newman has filled out and signed in red ink his philosophies related to five separate areas. In part: On Acting: “If I could answer that I wouldn’t be so miserable. Every time I get up on a stage it’s like being dragged to the electric chair.” On Sex: “Ask my wife. (And if she tells, she’ll get a shot she’ll never forget). On Drinking: “The legendary Mr. Bogart once said ‘I never trust a man who doesn’t drink.’ (Them’s my sentiments exactly!)!” Newman has added the date “18 May 1959” beneath his signature. The poster is loosely matted to a slight larger sheet. In fine condition, with light edge wear and creasing to the corners from a previous mounting. PSA/DNA COA and R&R COA.
