War-dated document signed by David D. Porter

Naval officer who served in New Orleans and on the Mississippi under the command of his foster brother David Farragut. War-dated partly printed DS, one page both sides, 7.75 x 9.75, U.S. Mississippi Squadron letterhead, January 14, 1864. A missive to R. Montgomery. In part: “You are hereby detached from the U.S.S. Linden and will report without delay to Cmdg. Officer U.S.S. Eastport for duty.” In fine condition, with minor age toning, small chips to left corners, a few small separations at borders which have been discretely repaired on the reverse. R&R COA.
