American sculptor noted for his monumental works, particularly the busts of four U.S. Presidents on Mount Rushmore. Vintage sepia matte-finish 13 x 16 photo of Mount Rushmore in progress, showing only a nearly complete George Washington and the beginnings of Thomas Jefferson, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “Hon. Ralph Budd, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Yours sincerely, Gutzon Borglum 1932.” In fine condition, with several vertical bends, vertical crease near lower right edge, a few light edge creases and spots and a light paperclip impression to top left.
