Early aircraft manufacturer. Having established aircraft factories in Germany prior to the outbreak of WWI, Fokker soon found his biplanes and triplanes in heavy demand for military use. He also invented a device that allowed machine guns to shoot through moving aircraft propellers, an apparatus used to great advantage by the Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen. After the war, Fokker turned to the development of commercial aircraft. Immigrating to the United States in 1922, he founded the Fokker Aircraft Corporation and served for a time as its president. Fountain pen signature, “Fokker,” at the bottom of an undated TLS requesting his signature on an off-white 7.25 x 10.5 sheet. In fine condition, with expected folds and Fokker’s signature overlapping sender’s signature. R&R COA.
