Unabashed baseball promoter

Longtime owner of the Chicago White Sox, he signed the first black player in the American League. An unabashed promoter, he was responsible for the exploding scoreboard at Comiskey Park in Chicago, and in 1952 he sent a midget, Eddie Gaedel, to bat in a game for the Browns. He was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1991. Signed book: Veeck-As in wreck. NY: G. P. Putnam’s Sons, 1962. Hardcover, 6 x 8.5, 380 pages. Signed on the first free end page in blue ballpoint by Veeck. In fine condition, with some minor wear and corner dings to cover and a couple small notations to title page.
