Interestingly, in November 2005, media sources reported that this very novel, the story of two Portuguese missionaries in seventeenth-century Japan, would be the basis for Scorsese’s next film. If the famed director finally takes home a long-overdue Oscar for the project, this contract may well become one of the most significant Scorsese documents in private hands!
