Description

British writer, and creator of Sherlock Holmes, the best-known detective in literature and the embodiment of ratiocination, or deductive reasoning. Doyle himself believed in fairies and was very interested in occultism. Sherlock Holmes stories have been translated into more than 50 languages. In 1920, Doyle was the highest paid writer of his time. ALS signed “A. Conan Doyle,” one page, 4.5 x 7, Royal York Hotel letterhead, stamp dated August 16, 1904. Polite letter to an associate. In full, “I would fit myself into any plan. If this does not come off I will come up in October anyhow for ordinary meetings.” In fine condition, with a bisecting horizontal mailing fold. R&R COA.
