Description

Russell tries to speak and run: “It would greatly diminish the fatigue of the occasion...to have me speak rather early and leave the hall when my speech is finished…”

British philosopher and mathematician who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1950. TLS signed “Russell,” one page, 8 x 10, Plas Penrhyn letterhead, April 24, 1958. Polite letter concerning upcoming travel and a speaking engagement. In part, “Thank you for your kind offer to arrange a meal, but I do not think this should be necessary as we can get some supper in the hotel after we return from the meeting. Would it be compatible with your plans for the meeting to have me speak rather early and leave the hall when my speech is finished? If this is possible, it would greatly diminish the fatigue of the occasion.” In fine condition, with two mailing folds. R&R COA.
