Influential artist whose distinctive visual language made him one of the definitive figures of French Impressionism. ALS in French, signed “Renoir,” one page, 4 x 5.25, no date [postmarked March 23, 1896]. A brief note to writer and critic Gustave Geffroy apparently expressing Renoir’s wish to hear from him. Accompanied by an unsigned photo and the original mailing envelope addressed in Renoir’s hand. In very good condition, with toning and foxing, chips and tears at edges (not affecting any writing), horizontal crease just touching signature, and slight offsetting of ink from premature folding. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
