Description

Salvador Dali’s wife writes during World War II: “Dali is working”

Wife of Salvador Dali who served as the model and inspiration for a number of the artist’s works. ALS in French, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 7, Del Monte Lodge [Pebble Beach, California] letterhead, June 19, 1945. An untranslated letter mentioning her husband. This was the year in which Alfred Hitchock’s psychological thriller Spellbound was released; Dali was responsible for designing the film’s most memorable scene, a bizarre dream sequence in his trademark surrealist style, complete with large blinking eyes and a table with human legs. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition, with usual mailing fold. R&R COA.
