DS, signed “Jimmy Hendrix,” one page on both sides of a partially printed 8.5 x 14 Popular Songwriters Contract form, March 30, 1966. Publishing agreement between Hendrix and RSVP Music for Hendrix’s “I Ain’t Taking Care Of No Business.” Hendrix assigns the rights to the song to RSVP in exchange for a token advance of one dollar, five cents per copy of the sheet music sold, and fifty percent of the net income for foreign sales. At the time he signed this contract, Hendrix was playing with Curtis Knight—the last time he might be thought of as a “supporting” musician (though, bizarrely, he served as the opening act during the Monkees’ 1967 American tour). “I Ain’t Taking Care of No Business” was eventually recorded and released as “No Business” on the 1967 Capitol Records compilation album Get That Feeling. Hendrix’s signature has always been one of the most desirable and elusive prizes for serious collectors of rock autographs. The confluence of factors in the present item—the early, pre-fame date, the extremely uncommon form of Hendrix’s signature, and the outstanding musical interest—make for what is certainly one of the finest Hendrix documents in private hands (which could soon be yours!). In clean, fine condition, with a faint bend to one corner, light paperclip impression, and tiny marginal chip. COA Roger Epperson/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
