TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 5 x 8.5, War Department letterhead, February 26, 1907. Taft declines an invitation to speak at the University Club of Brooklyn. In part, “I beg to say that it will not be possible for me to do so. I expect to leave on a trip to the Isthmus, Cuba and Porto Rico [sic]…and my official business will prevent me from making any further engagements.” Matted and framed with a color portrait of Taft, to an overall size of 15.5 x 14. In fine condition, with expected folds and some light feathering to signature. R&R COA.
