Philippine bank note signed by the ‘Tiger of Malaya’

Japanese general. He commanded during the unsuccessful defense of the Philippines against the invading Allies under Douglas MacArthur. In September 1945, he surrendered. He went on trial before a military commission in Manila for atrocities committed by soldiers under his command. He was found guilty and hanged. Philippines One Peso bank note, 6.25 x 2.5, series number 66, signed on the portrait side in Japanese and English by Yamashita. Accompanied by a 1999 letter of provenance from an Army captain assigned to MacArthur’s headquarters, who was given this bank note by one of Yamashita’s interrogators. In fine condition, with some slight signature contrast and previous folds. R&R COA.
