Cartoonist and creator of Joe Palooka. Impressive original vintage signed and inscribed crayon sketch of Joe Palooka on an off-white 13 x 16 sheet. Signed and inscribed, “Hi Pat! Why don’t you give up Quizz Kids and draw Palooka so I can take a rest, Your ole pal, Ham Fisher.” The original recipient of this sketch was very likely Patrick Conlon, one of the regular panelists on the celebrated Quiz Kids radio and television show in the 1940s and 1950s; among his brainy juvenile “colleagues” was James Watson, who later received the Nobel Prize for his discovery of DNA. Framed to an overall size of 14.5 x 17.5. In fine condition, with light, even toning. R&R COA.
