Description

Attack on Pearl Harbor commander

One of Japan's most skilled fliers, he commanded the air attack against Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and was the last to leave the battle area. He unsuccessfully tried to persuade his superiors to launch a second attack against Pearl Harbor. After the war Fuchida converted to Christianity and became a nondenominational preacher, traveling frequently to America; in 1966 he became a US citizen. Ballpoint signature, “Capt. Mitsuo Fuchida, Luke 23:24,” adding Japanese characters under his signature, on an off-white card, dated April 23, 1961. Matted and framed with a slightly grainy photo of Fuchida, to an overall size of 14 x 18. In fine condition, with a couple trivial spots. R&R COA.
