President Roosevelt’s son, a Congressional Medal of Honor winner who was killed during the Normandy invasion. ALS, two pages, 7 x 9, P. & O. S. N. Co. letterhead, May 4, 1925. Interesting report of Roosevelt’s trip to Russia and the Middle East. In part, “Robovsky was exceedingly pleasant and well informed…I talked with him about recognition by the U. S. and incidentally discussed the question of the Bolshevist propaganda. He said there was no govermon [sic] folly directed propaganda in the U. S. and that anyway there could be no revolt against Bourgeois [sic] in the U. S. because we were all Burgeois [sic]…We are ‘East of Suez.’ When we got off at Port Said there was no question but that a different standard of morals prevailed. The sheet Arab would offer you first ‘French pictures,’ second to show you ‘a naked Spanish dance,’ third his ‘little sister’ and when none of these interested you as a final resort his ‘little brother.’.” In fine condition, with a bisecting vertical mailing fold to both pages.
