German admiral who commanded the German navy during World War II and tendered Germany’s surrender to the Allies on May 7, 1945. He was later sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment at Nuremberg trials. Lot of five items: engraved souvenir sheet picturing reproductions of 1930 Graf Zeppelin, signed and dated, “Dönitz 7.12.73”; ALS in German, 1979; souvenir typescript of the World War II Instrument of Surrender, signed and dated, “Dönitz 4.3.78”; and two souvenir postal covers with cachets picturing squadron leader T. M. Bulloch, each signed by Dönitz, one also signed by two other members of the 120th Squadron (including Bulloch), the other also signed by four other members of the 120th.
