Description

Postcards from Hughes, “May go to Paris in December to see my “Prodical Son” there.”

American writer. Through his poetry, prose, and drama he made important contributions to the Harlem Renaissance. His best-known works include Weary Blues (1926) and The Ways of White Folks (1934). Lot of three postcard size ALSs, each signed “Langston,” one dated June 6, 1953, the others postmarked from 1955 and 1956. All three are written to Prentiss Taylor in Arlington, Virginia. One letter reads, in full, “Nice to see you reclining so blissfully aboard ship and to have your note. Sounds like you had a lovely trip. Me, too, back home since end of July. May go to Paris in December to see my “Prodigal Son” there.” Both of the government postcards are addressed in Hughes’ hand. In fine condition. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
