Very interesting four piece archive, dated only a few months before his death. An ALS, signed “Satch,” one page, 8.5 x 11, no date. A letter to his manager, Oscar Cohen, in part, “Here are the tunes that was sent to us sometime ago by Creole Charlie, a boy from my hometown New Orleans…please contact him and give him contracts for all of them…your boy Nat is looking for a song by me to put on the back of the one that he sent to record by me, maybe one of these songs will just fil [sic] the purpose.” Also included is a handwritten song list on an 8.5 x 11 sheet, also signed “Satch,” listing seven songs, with Armstrong writing at the bottom, “All of these tunes belong to Creole Charlie in Chicago and me. So pick anyone you like.” The actual reel to reel tape recording mentioned in the letter is included as well as the original 12 x 9 mailing envelope, addressed in Armstrong’s hand and signed “Satchmo,” in the return address area. In fine overall condition. R&R COA.
