TLS signed “G. S. Patton, Jr.,” one page, 8 x 6.75, Headquarters Fifteenth US Army letterhead, November 11, 1945. Short letter of thanks for birthday wishes. On his sixtieth birthday, and less than a month before the accident that would ultimately claim his life, Patton sends polite thanks to actress Dorothy McGuire for a birthday card. In full, “Thank you very much for the beautiful Birthday Card. I very much appreciate your thoughtfulness.” On December 9, 1945, he suffered injuries as the result of an automobile accident. He died twelve days later, on December 21, 1945. In fine condition, with bisecting horizontal mailing fold, a few light wrinkles and a staple hole to top left corner.
