Just weeks before the first Battle of Bull Run, Lincoln appoints an additional paymaster

DS as president, one page, 13.75 x 17, August 7, 1861. Appointment of Edward Boyce as Additional Paymaster, effective June 1, 1861. Boldly signed at the conclusion in black ink by Lincoln and counter signed by his Secretary of War, Simon Cameron. Bold, crisp Lincoln signature, intact bright green seal. Previous storage folds and a light shade of overall toning, Lincoln’s signature along a horizontal fold, vertical fold through a letter of the signature, otherwise fine condition. On the date this appointment was signed, Lincoln met with Generals Grant and Halleck and Secretary Stanton at the War Department.
