Description

The price of fame, Russian style: A year after they made history, the first two men in space sign a copy of their busy official schedule

Russian-language DS, signed “Gagarin” and “Titov” in blue ink, one page, 7.5 x 9.5, August 1962. A typed schedule of events, mainly related to public relations, that the two cosmonauts were expected to participate in during the month of August 1962. Among their duties were appearances at the World Festival of Youth in Helsinki, a meeting in honor of the first anniversary of Titov’s flight, the Seventh Congress of the International Society of Students, and others. Both men signed (perhaps reluctantly!) next to their typed names near the bottom of the sheet. In very good condition, with light even toning, creases, scattered wrinkling, one corner clipped, and one corner chipped, none of the minor flaws affecting the signatures. R&R COA.
