Description

Father of modern aircraft

Aviation pioneer who took the airplane from its wood, fabric and wire beginnings to the forerunners of modern transport aircraft. TLS signed “G. H. Curtiss,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Curtiss Aeroplane Co. letterhead, March 20, 1917. Curtiss sends his regrets and apologies for his time constraints. In part, “I failed to get a draftsman on the job you wanted done before I left Buffalo. I did not forget it entirely, but just did not have the time to carry out the plan.” In fine condition, with two horizontal mailing folds, light overall toning, a shade heavier at the edges and missing top left corner.
