The Signer who prosecuted participants of the Boston Massacre

Lawyer who served as one of the prosecutors of British soldiers during the Boston Massacre trial; he later signed the Declaration of Independence for Massachusetts. Endorsement, signed “R. T. Paine,” on a 6.75 x 8 incomplete document concerning James Lovell and the schooner Success, dated December 19, 1787. In part, “And the said James Lovell receiving Liberty of joining the above issue.” In very good condition, with scattered toning and soiling, heavier along folds and a light brush to signature.
