TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, General Headquarters, Southwest Pacific Area letterhead, February 27, 1945. Letter of condolence sent to the family of a soldier killed in battle. In full, “In the death of your son, Private First Class Wilbur L. Eckman, you have my heartfelt sympathy. His service was characterized by his devotion to our beloved country, and in his death we have lost a gallant comrade-in-arms.” In very good condition, with moderate folds, a couple small fold separations and some scattered toning and soiling.
