Description

The “other” monster, Glenn Strange, signs a contract to play Atlas

In the late 1930s, Strange’s evolved into a full-time bad guy in hundreds of "B" westerns. He could be glimpsed in many of the popular western serials of the day. A huge man, his massive build and Karloff’s reticence to continue to play monsters, helped him break into the horror picture genre of the 1940s. Strange made his monstrous debut in House of Frankenstein, quickly followed by House of Dracula . He also played the creature in the cult horror/comedy classic Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein as part of the monstrous trio alongside Bela Lugosi's Dracula and Lon Chaney, Jr.'s Wolf Man. DS, one page both sides, 8.5 x 19.5, September 12, 1949. Strange agrees to play the role of Atlas in Master Minds (Bowery #16) for a fee of $500 per week. Beautifully signed at the bottom of the reverse. In very good condition, with age, edge and handling wear, several nicks in the margins, small separations at folds. R&R COA
