Vintage matte-finish 7.75 x 10 full-length photo of Chaplin as The Tramp, signed “Good luck, Charlie Chaplin, 1928” in fountain pen. In fine condition, with corner tack holes, crease to upper left corner, minor discoloration in the borders. The genesis of the little tramp was the 1914 film Kid Auto Races at Venice. Chaplin wore baggy pants borrowed from Fatty Arbuckle, Ford Sterling’s size 14 shoes (which were worn backwards to keep them from falling off), Keystone Kop Charles Avery’s far too small jacket, a bowler hat from Arbuckle's father-in-law and Mack Swain's moustache fashioned into a fat rectangle above his lip. COA PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
