The Birth and Babyhood of the Telephone, signed by Thomas Watson

Assistant to Alexander Graham Bell, he was the recipient of the first telephone message: “Mr. Watson, come here, I want you.” Pamphlet: The Birth and Babyhood of the Telephone, by Thomas A. Watson, December 15, 1925, 5 x 7.5, 40 pages. This is comprised of an address delivered before the third annual convention of the Telephone Pioneers of America in October 1913. Signed and inscribed “Mr. Edmund W. Longley, with the kind regards of Thomas A. Watson, December 20th, 1925” in fountain pen on the title page adjacent to Watson’s portrait page. Accompanied by a copy of the letter dated March 29, 1924 from Watson to Batchelder regarding Batchelder’s pamphlet, which reads, in part: “Your pamphlet was pretty nearly the first publicity work of the Telephone Company and you did a mighty good job of it.” In fine condition, with minor edge wear and faint toning.
