Anne Frank’s father takes a reader to task: “As to Anne’s knowledge of English, I am astonished that you did not pay attention...of course Anne wrote her Diary in Dutch”

Father of diarist Anne Frank and the only member of her family to survive the concentration camps. TLS in English, one page, 5.75 x 8.25, Basle letterhead, December 21, 1959. In part: “If you want to know more about what happened after we were arrested, I advise you to read ‘A Portrait of Courage’ written by Schnabel…which also contains many details about Anne which are not in her Diary. As to Anne’s knowledge of English, I am astonished that you did not pay attention to a note in the edition saying that the book has been translated. Of course Anne wrote her Diary in Dutch.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition, with folds, light creasing, trivial soiling to top margin. R&R COA.
