Irish born actor, playwright and producer who acquired the rights to Dracula from Florence Stoker and adapted the novel. In 1927, the play opened on Broadway with an unknown Hungarian actor Deane had discovered named Bela Lugosi. Lugosi barely spoke English and learned his lines phonetically and the resulting delivery of those lines is now world-famous. If not for Hamilton Deane, Universal would never have heard of Lugosi. Many of the ideas used in the stage production were reproduced in the film, with the overall look of the film owing as much to Deane as to the director, Tod Browning. Fountain pen signature, “Sincerely yours, Hamilton Deane,” on a pale green 3.25 x 2 card, loosely-matted with a portrait to an overall size of 8 x 10. In fine condition. R&R COA.
