American actor who enjoyed a busy film career in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He remained unemployable for several years after he was blacklisted during the McCarthy era, but he went on to play the role for which he is best known, Grandpa Walton, in the 1970s TV series The Waltons. Vintage satin-finish 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “Dear Walter, Warm wishes for another get-together, Bill Geer.” In fine condition, with light edge wear and a few dents, faint rippling at top and bottom edges, and slight brushing to inscription and signature.
