Description

Gloria Swanson assigns the copyrights of two films, including Sadie Thompson, for which she was nominated for Best Actress

DS, five pages, 8.5 x 11, March 2, 1928. Agreement between Gloria Swanson Productions and Art Cinema Corporation, assigning copyrights “of motion pictures entitled respectively The Love of Sunya and Sadie Thompson, including assignment of copyright of motion picture rights to stories upon which said motion pictures are based.” Signed twice on the fourth page in green fountain pen by Swanson. Swanson would receive an Academy Award nomination for her role in Sadie Thompson, but would lose to Mary Pickford. In fine condition, with several notations on front cover of legal folder. Interesting to note that in Sadie Thompson, Swanson (as Sadie) swore several times on screen, but as the title cards don't reflect this and the film is silent, it was released without censorship. R&R COA.
