Nigel Bruce apologizes to a friend for seeming ungrateful: “Very kind of you both to offer me your car on Sat. night after the play and I do hope I didn’t seem ungrateful, but I really felt so like Hell I don’t remember what I said, as it happens I had my doctor waiting for me in a taxi.”

ALS signed “Nigel,” one page both sides, 5.75 x 7, personal letterhead, January 11, 1932. In part: “My dear Gilbert, It was really very kind of you both to offer me your car on Sat. night after the play and I do hope I didn’t seem ungrateful, but I really felt so like Hell I don’t remember what I said, as it happens I had my doctor waiting for me in a taxi. My temp went down yesterday and today I feel much better and am going to play tonight. May I come see you when I’m out again? Yours ever, Nigel. P.S. A big success to you tomorrow.” In fine condition, with faint toning, a small area of trivial soling, typed transcription affixed to the letter with a small paper clip which has a bit of rust. R&R COA.
