Description

Rare Bull portrait signed by early Best Supporting Actress, Alice Brady

Tremendously popular actress who died from cancer at the age of 46. She was one of the fortunate actresses to make the transition from silents to talkies. In 1936, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in My Man Godfrey. A year later, she won the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actress for her work in In Old Chicago. Vintage matte-finish 9 x 12.25 Clarence Sinclair Bull portrait of Brady in an elegant black gown and seated in a white chair with a white dog in a white chair beside a window. Brady has an intriguing expression on her face, as if she’s either lost in thought, or simply lost. The portrait is signed and inscribed in green fountain pen “For Edwin Michelin, best wishes, Alice Brady.” In fine condition, with trimmed edges, corner creases, minor edge wear. R&R COA.
