Jurist who served as the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1959-1986. ALS, one page, folded to 5 x 7.25, Supreme Court of the United States, Chambers of Chief Justice Burger, Retired, embossed letterhead, no date. In part: “Dear Congressman Natcher [?],I hope Congress will give support to HR 5677 to continue some of the educational work of the Bicentennial Commission. In 1985 when we began we said we would try to give the country - and especially the primary school students ‘a history and civics lesson.’ Hundreds of teachers have applauded our programs and urged they be continued.” In fine condition.
