JFK crosses party lines to help a potential postmaster: “While I am sure you realize that the patronage for appointments as Postmaster is now, due to the change in the administration, in the hands of Republican members of Congress, I have nonetheless contacted the Post Office Department and recommended Mr. Peloquin for this position”

TLS, one page, 7.5 x 9, United States Senate letterhead, April 8, 1953. Letter concerning the appointment of a Postmaster in Massachusetts. In part, “While I am sure you realize that the patronage for appointments as Postmaster is now, due to the change in the administration, in the hands of Republican members of Congress, I have nonetheless contacted the Post Office Department and recommended Mr. Peloquin for this position. I have been informed by the Post Office Department that he does rate very high on the register and apparently his chances appear excellent. I do hope everything turns out well for him.” Matted and framed with a portrait of Kennedy, to an overall size of 13 x 22.5.
