Great lot of nine signed pieces from literary giants include: an ANS on personalized memorandum stationery reads, “For Stanton Patterson, Best Wishes, Erskine Caldwell, Scottsdale, Arizona, 10 Oct 81” in thick black ink (possibly paint); a brief TLS signed by Robert Penn Warren; an ALS dated Sept. 6, 1895 signed by Edward E. Hale; an ANS signed by Upton Sinclair and dated Jan. 26, 1913; an ALS on Atlantic Monthly stationery signed “W[illiam] D[ean] Howells” and dated April 20, 1875; souvenir typescript of Karl Shapiro’s “Vietnam Memorial” signed and inscribed “To Stefan Petterson”; a TLS on personal stationery signed by James Dickey; an ALS signed by “Tom Wolfe” and dated November 29, 1986; and, the signature of Verner von Heidenstam, dated August 12, 1911. In overall fine to very good condition, with folds through portions of some signatures, adhesive residue to the reverse of a few, expected toning to the older pieces. R&R COA.
