According to the Al Stump biography, Cobb, Ty Cobb refused to pay his utility bill in early 1960, “for overcharging me on the service…Bunch of crooks. When I wouldn’t pay they cut off my utilities. Okay - I’ll see them in court.” Cobb lived in his multimillion dollar mansion for over a year without electricity (he used candles), cooked on an outdoor Coleman camper’s stove and had no hot water. Cancellation holes and stamps to body, with one stamp lightly affecting beginning of signature, pencil note to lower left and a bisecting vertical fold, otherwise fine condition.
