French painter and sculptor, considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century. A prolific artist, Matisse also produced lithographs, etchings, designs, and book illustrations, and considered his masterpiece to be the decor of the Chapelle du Rosaire in Vence, France. Bold fountain pen signature, “Henri Matisse,” on an off-white 6 x 1.5 slip, affixed to a slightly larger card. Card in turn is affixed to an 8.5 x 11 sheet, with two small photos of Matisse, two clipped photos of his works and some biographical information.
