English poet. The most famous poet of the Victorian age, he was a profound spokesman for the ideas and values of his times. ALS signed “A. Tennyson,” two pages on two adjoining black-bordered sheets, 4.5 x 7, July 8, 1879. Letter to a friend. In part, “I thank you for your…pathetic lines on dear Charles & your copy of Coleridge’s notes…I can scarce thank you sufficiently for all the…kindness you have shown to him during his last illness.” Bisecting horizontal mailing fold, scattered foxing to second page, lightly affecting signature, otherwise fine condition.
