In part: “The undersigned, Clark Gable, as surviving husband and successor in interest to Carole Lombard, deceased, does by these presents and for and in consideration of the sum of ten thousand dollars to him in hand paid, receipt whereof is hereby admitted…unto Helen Deutsch, her heirs and assigns forever…in and to that certain literary property entitled ‘But Is It Love?’ and also entitled ‘Object Matrimony.’ It is the intent of this instrument to convey…Helen Deutsch is hereby released of and from all claims, demands, debts…to have and to hold unto said Helen Deutsch, her heirs and assigns forever.” The typewritten “Nine” and “$9,000.00” have been crossed out and the words “Ten” and “$10,000” have been handwritten. Signed “Clark Gable” twice on page two. In fine condition, with a horizontal fold through several letters of the uppermost signature, scattered faint creasing, a rusted staple to upper left corner, faint edge toning, rusted paper clip impression visible on reverse of page three.
