In the first half of the 20th Century, Ripley was one of the most famous people in the world. His Believe It or Not! cartoon featured tales that seemed incredible, but he claimed they were true. At the peak of its popularity, the cartoon feature was being read by about 80 million readers. Lot of two different vintage items includes: a sepia glossy 8 x 10 photo of Ripley in safari gear, signed and inscribed “To Eddie Shaman, with all the best! Ripley ‘Believe It Or Not. NY 1934” in fountain pen; and, an unsigned vintage red, yellow and black-covered program, 5.25 x 8.5, for Ripley’s Odditorium. The program is for “Believe It or Not! Four Big Show - One Admission…Robert Ripley’s $2,000,000 Air-Cooled Exhibit of Strange Objects and Peopl…in The Heart of New York City.” the program has several photos and details the exhibits. In overall fine condition, with scattered surface impressions, edge wear and a chip in the upper left corner of the photo. R&R COA.
