Description

Barnum’s celebrated midget, who under the stage name Tom Thumb toured America and Europe to such acclaim that he was entertained at both Buckingham Palace and the White House. Fountain pen signatures, “Charles S. Stratton known as Genl. Tom Thumb,” and “Neither worth nor wisdom comes without an effort, Mrs. Charles S. Stratton, Albany, NY,” on an off-white sheet, dated May 2, 1882. Matted with a nice portrait of the couple, to an overall size of 10 x 15.5. In fine condition, with a bit of light edge toning.
