Letter to George Warner (brother of Charles Warner, prominent editor and family friend), regarding property management with Clemens rescinding recommendations made earlier. In part, “I am not the boss of this family, but have merely a 20 percent vote in it. If in my letter to you I showed any remote willingness to have the neck of land severed…please consider those words recalled & an urgent protest against that sacrilege substituted…there were four votes in this family dead against when I wrote my letter…Now here you have the verdict.
